S.M. Wright Foundation

The S. M. Wright Foundation serves the South Dallas Fair Park community by providing support to enhance the quality of life through the areas of race relations, health, education, community economic development and social assistance programs for the Glory of God. The S. M. Wright Foundation has established several initiatives in the South Dallas/Fair Park community to promote and encourage self-sufficiency and community pride.  Higher Ground has committed to support the S.M. Wright Foundation through monetary donations, volunteer efforts and continous prayer.  Through this partnership, we have donated thousands of dollars, and hundreds of volunteer hours at the Operation Hope Food Pantry, Annual Back-to-School Supply Giveaway, Thanksgiving Day Event, and Christmas in the Park.  Please visit the Missions Calendar under the "serve" tab for dates and times we will be serving the Fair Park community.  For more information or to find out how you can join us in this rewarding and fullfilling effort, please contact Crissy Garcia at crissygarcia@ymail.com or by cell phone at 214-906-8651.

Isabel's Community Outreach (ICO) was incorporated in 2004 by Isabel Garcia after spending 14 years volunteering her time in the lower income community of Plano .  Her exposure to this deprived and discouraged network of mostly Hispanic mothers and children motivated Isabel to empower them with the skills and tools necessary to achieving a life of self-sufficiency, self-assurance, and dignity.  ICO accomplishes this by assisting in the development of income producing skills, teaching basic life skills, providing aid and emotional support to overcome immediate problems, and by establishing an awareness of a wider world.  Over the past five years, ICO has touched over 4,000 lives in the Plano, Texas community.

During 2008, the Higher Ground family supported ICO through countless hours of volunteer service, donated equipment and supplies, and financial support.  Some of the special events that HG participated in were ICO Sports Day and Music Day.  We had approximately 100 total children and parents with about 20 HG volunteers participate.  The events were a tremendous success with an abundance of fun, games, music, toys, food, candy, giveaways, and lots of love and hope to a needy community.

Coming up in 2009 is Art Day, Circus Day, and Field Day for the children, and an Etiquette Tea Party for the ladies!  We need help planning and executing these special events.  If you are interested in participating in any way, any measure of time, donation, etc., we can plug you right in!

For more information please contact us at the numbers below.  ICO is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization.  All donations are tax deductible.
